Chocolate Protein Smoothie
Years ago, I brought a friend along to one of my mother’s family reunions.
As we drove into the Catskills, she looked around and asked, “Where are the mountains?” (Apparently, being from Idaho, she was used to real mountains, not the measly little bumps we call mountains here in the northeast.)
And then, we took her to our favorite little place for a malted. Three million calories of chocolaty goodness. Yum!
She took one sip and asked,” Where is the ice cream?” (Apparently, malteds were not big in Idaho back then)
My mother, a New Yorker born and raised, tried to explain that a malted was different from a milkshake…and infinitely better.
But despite my mother extolling the finer points of malteds, my friend was having none of it…she called the waitress over, handed her back the malted and asked her to please take it back and put actual ice cream in it this time!
My mother still talks about this…of course, she still talks about the time she was accused of eating her brother’s ice box cake too, but one family scandal at a time…
Sometimes, I want a chocolate shake, no offense mom, and this recipe is the quickest way to get one and I still managed to sneak in some veggies too!
Ingredients:
- 1 container of Vega chocolate protein drink (or brand of. your choice.
Alternatively, you could use almond milk and powder that equals approximately 11 oz. - 1 1/2 cups frozen blackberries
