Healthy Apple Raisin Oat Cookies
I am convinced that the worst hacker in the world could get into our accounts more easily than we can. Case in point:
I recently sent someone an email and was a bit curious after a few days why they hadn’t responded. The mystery deepened when they finally did respond and the only place it appeared was on my iPad. It was not on my computer, nowhere to be found on my phone, only and exclusively on my iPad. How is this even possible??????
Fortunately, my nephew was nearby, so we put on our deerstalker hats, lit up our pipes and he helped me solve the mystery (I like to think I was Sherlock in this scenario and he was Watson, but I’m pretty sure it was the other way around. Maybe we should have had a shaken martini instead. Sigh.) When I sent the original email, I didn’t pay attention to which account I was sending it from (silly me, I thought I only had the one account), and apparently it was defaulting to an account that I didn’t even know we had. And then I remembered…
Years ago, we were in the Apple store where Tim was getting a new phone. The guy was trying to switch the old accounts to the new phone, but Tim couldn’t remember the password he had created for the apple account. After trying 1234, our names, our pet’s name, our friend’s name, our friend’s pet’s name, the name of the dog who lived down the street, the names of our imaginary childhood friends and googling “most used passwords” he was one click away from being locked out. Tim and the “genius” decided it would just be easier to start a new account (Really?!?! That is your solution? Although I think he probably did that just to get rid of us…Tim may have progressed from semi-reasonable human with a modicum of patience to someone less reasonable like, say, one of the real housewives or a survivor contestant who has lived off of bugs and dirt for two weeks and just been told that they lost the challenge to get a steak and potatoes.
Either way, he had a new apple account. Until the next time.
I came to find out that every time Tim got a new phone, he set up a new account. Which was never used. Except apparently to send emails from my computer years later. And speaking of apple(s)….
These oatmeal apple cookies are ridiculously easy to make, and I’ve included a bonus recipe for a doggie version.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups oat flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 cup raisins
- 2/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup peeled and chopped apple (I used gala or other sweet apple)
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375
- In a large bowl, combine the oats, oat flour, salt, cinnamon,, raisins and chopped apples. Add the applesauce, maple syrup and vanilla extract and stir well to combine.
- Drop by spoonful on lined or greased cookie sheet and press lightly to slightly flatten as they will not flatten or spread out when baking.
- Bake for 10 minutes. Allow to cool a few minutes before moving to cooking rack to finish cooling. Makes approximately 3 dozen.
Bonus:
For doggie cookies, mix the oats, oat flour, chopped apple and applesauce in a bowl. (Omit all the things that would make the dog sick: cinnamon, salt, raisins, maple syrup, vanilla extract) You might need to add an extra tablespoon of applesauce if you think the batter is too dry but these are thick and chewy cookies so don’t add too much! Drop by the spoonful on a lined baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes at 375.
Enjoy!
